You were the stronger one, this I knew
Now I lay here on the ground that I choose
Shaded by the trees and the Sun sprays through
I remember when it shined over me and you

I am high on the mountain
Looking over the fields
At the vines and the flowers
So entwined, just as you and I used to be

Osage orange tree here just the same
I could stare at her thorns for hours
Thinking of the last time and place
When the bed wasn't mine but ours

I am high on the mountain
Looking out over fields
At the ground I am bound to
As I try, as I try to bring you to me

Count the hours before I leave
Vultures perched in the evergreens
Hiding from the buses, cars, and streets
Can't we stay here where the air is sweet?

At the miles here dividing
The one side from one side

The one side is one side of the same body
